Nachalat Benyamin, Tel Aviv

Each city in Israel is unique. Jerusalem is holy and is much more reserved while Tel Aviv has an energy of its own.

Tel Aviv is the city that never sleeps also known as the White City because of its white buildings.

There is a great place to visit, The Arts and Crafts Fair, on Nachalat Benyamin, which is open every Tuesday and Friday.

Take the bus to Allenby Street and walk towards Nachalat Benyamin which has been home to the Arts and Crafts Fair since 1987.

Hundreds of stalls line the roads in the area where you can buy original works that are all hand made. There are all sorts of articles ranging from Jewelry to scented soaps, beautiful colourful vases to paintings either water or oils which can be religiously oriented, landscapes and sea views, flowers and abstract paintings.

Hand painted mezuza cases and wooden name plates for the doors. They are brightly painted and make an ideal present for a child's bedroom.

On Succot you can find beautiful ornaments made in the shapes of pomegranates. Pomegranates are eaten on Rosh Hashana but remain a symbol right through the holiday period. You can buy colourful handmade clocks and wall hangings, in fact, so many artists make so many unusual pieces that it is fun stopping at each stall as you will always find something very unique.

There is a shop which specializes in chinese items including brightly colourful outfits for all ages that can be fantastic outfits for Purim.

When you finish browsing around sit at one of the cafes and treat yourself to something to eat and drink while you watch all the people roaming around having a fun day
