The Dead Sea, Yam Hamalach, sea of salt, it is a salt lake in Israel.
Its surface and shores are 422 meters (1385ft) below sea level. The lowest elevation of the earths surface on dry land. The Dead Sea is 378m (1240ft) deep.
The Dead Sea has attracted visitors from the Mediterranean basin for 1000s of years. It was the place of refuge for King David. It was one of the first health resorts for Herald the Great, and it has been supplier of a wide variety of products, from balms for Egyptian mummification to potash for fertilizers. The Dead Sea climate offers year-round sunny skies, dry air and low pollution. Summer temperature ranges between 32 39c (90-102F) in winter between 20-23c (68-73F).
