Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and its the largest city in both population and area. Locasted in the Judean Mountains, between the Mediterranean Sea and the northern edge of the Dead Sea.
The history of Jerusalem goes back over 3500 years, making it one of the oldest cities in the world. Jerusalem is the holiest city in Judaism and has been the spiritual center since 1000 BCE when King David, the king of Israel established it as the capital of the Jewish nation, and his son Solomon commissioned the building of the First Temple in the city.
Jerusalem contains many Christian and Moslem sites, the important Temple Mount, the Western Wall ( the Kotel) the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque. The Old Walled City is divided into four quarters, the Jewish, Armenian, Christian and Muslim.
Although Jerusalem is known primarily for its religious significance it is home to many artistic and cultural venues, The Israel Museum attracts 1,000,000 visitors a year. Yad Vashem, Israels largest memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. The Ticho House, in downtown Jerusalem houses paintings of Anna Ticho and Judaica collection of her husband.
There are many beautiful malls to visit including the Mamilla and Ben Yehuda Malls where you can sit, relax, eat and drink and watch all the beautiful people going about there business in this the most magical city in the world.
I rejoiced when they said to me,
"Let us go to the House of the Hashem"
Imbobile stood our feet, within your gates, O Jerusalem.
The built up Jerusalem is like a city that is united together.
May there be peace within your walls,
serenity within your palaces.
